"Jumper" wiring and daisy-chained extension cords are common in older homes and market stalls, and remain the leading cause of fire in dense barangays. Have exposed or spliced wiring inspected, and avoid running heavy appliances off a single outlet.

Unattended cooking, candles, and LPG leaks

Small kitchens with gas tanks near open flame, and candles used during brownouts, are routine triggers for household fires. Never leave a lit stove, check LPG hoses monthly, and keep a charged flashlight on hand instead of open flame.
